Social Security Lawyer Knox County Fees

Published by Kenneth A. Miller

Often times, we hear from our clients that are appealing their claim for Social Security Disability benefits, that they did not initially hire an attorney for financial reasons. It is not uncommon for Social Security Disability claimants to think that hiring a Social Security lawyer in Knox County will be expensive. The reality is unlike many regular attorneys, disability lawyers do not charge up-front fees or require a retainer to work on a case. Here at Kenneth Miller & Associates, we collect no fee unless you win.

Contingency Fee Agreement

When you first hire a Social Security lawyer in Knox County, whether you are filing for SSDI or SSI, you must sign a fee agreement that allows the Social Security Administration to pay your attorney if your claim is approved. The SSA will review the agreement to make sure that it meets the fee agreement guidelines. This will make sure that your attorney will receive only what he or she is entitled to. Fee agreements are required to be on a contingency basis, which means the attorney is only paid if you win.

How Much Does The Attorney Receive If I Win?

When your Social Security lawyer in Knox County wins your claim, the fee is a percentage of the past due benefits you and your family are awarded when you win. The SSA will tell you the amount of the past due benefits and the attorney fee will be approved in the Notice of Award that you receive. In addition to the attorney’s fee, we may bill you for costs for medical records and expenses we have incurred while preparing your case.
